Poetry Aloud Competition

Excellent news for Gaelcholáiste Chéitinn as four students win their way into the All-Ireland Semi-Final of the 2022 Poetry Aloud competition run by Poetry Ireland and the National Library, Dublin. Naoise Fuireastal won through in the Senior Category, Labhaoise Ní Chonmhara Ní Lonargáin came up trumps in the Intermediate Category while Freddie O Baicéir and Oisín O Harper, both in Bliain a hAon succeeded in winning a place in the Junior Category. Details about the next stage of the competition have yet to be announced.

Soroptomist International Girls’ Public Speaking competition

Sorcha Nic an Bhaird agus Faye Ní Chonchúir, representing Gaelcholáiste Chéitinn, emerged victorious as joint winners of the local heat in Dungarvan of the Soroptomist International Girls’ Public Speaking competition on November 24th. There were 16 speakers from 7 schools across counties Waterford and Tipperary. Sorcha spoke on the topic of Peace and Democracy while Faye’s topic was on Partnership and Empowerment of Women.
